Class activities for Wednesday, April 15

Wednesday, April 15th, 2015

Spelling: None today due to the M-STEP English Language Arts test.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: None today due to the M-STEP English Language Arts test.

Writing: Students continued to collect research for the I-Search informational research project, due on May 1. Students will share their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on May 1.

Math: None today due to the M-STEP English Language Arts test.

Here are recent and upcoming skills from Khan Academy:

It would be helpful for students to continue working on these skills at home if they haven’t had enough time in class to master them.

Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes or more using MobyMax or Khan Academy, and to work on MobyMax FactMaster for 5 minutes.

Science: None today due to the M-STEP English Language Arts test.

Social Studies: We learned about the jobs and living conditions of slaves in the American colonies. Homework if to finish the reading notes for section 9.7.

  • Students will be taking the M-STEP (Michigan Student Test of Educational Progress) test several days each week for the next three weeks. Please make sure students get enough sleep and a good breakfast!

Writing: Today, we talked about ways to find trustworthy sources of information. The text of the website, its web address, and the images on the site can give clues about if a site is trustworthy, or if the information is not reliable.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: Students continued to collect research for the I-Search informational research project, due on May 1. Students will share their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on May 1.

Math: Students practiced adding and subtracting fractions today in MobyMax.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles; some groups worked on using context clues as a reading strategy.

Writing: We continued to work on our next writing project, the I-Search informational research project. Students will share their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 24.  Today, students looked for a book in the school library and continued to collect research.

Math: We practiced subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.
