Class activities for Wednesday, October 28
Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 16-18 are available and due on Friday.
Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles; some groups worked on making connections as a reading strategy.
Writing: We talked about using strong verbs in writing so that the reader can picture the action:
- Weak verbs: go, walk, said
- Strong verbs: dash, crawl, streak, whisper, shout
Students also worked on revising their narrative today. This personal narrative is due Friday, November 6. Your student should be finished with their draft and starting to revise by making changes.
Math: Today we practiced looking for and extending patterns. Many students are working on this skill in MobyMax Math.
Here’s a skill we’ve been working on lately (and some students are struggling with) that your student could work on at home:
Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.
Science: None today due to our scheduled reading skills time.
Social Studies: We reviewed circular flow by doing a class skit about money moving from businesses to workers, back to other businesses.
