October 27th, 2015
Class activities for Tuesday, October 27
Spelling: We reviewed the idea that some words have silent letters: become, castle, knife, less, sword.
Cursive: Cursive pp.16-18 are available and due on Friday.
Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.
Writing: Students worked on drafting their narrative today. This personal narrative is due Friday, November 6. Your student should be finishing their draft today and have about a page typed.
Math: We are starting to practice finding and extending patterns in math. Many students are working on this skill in MobyMax Mat.
Here’s a skill we’ve been working on lately (and some students are struggling with) that your student could work on at home:
Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.
Science: Students completed an experiment today about finding hidden magnets in a box using a compass, iron filings, another magnet, or a paperclip. Homework is to finish the “Detecting Magnets” experiment if not done in class.
Social Studies: We reviewed important ideas about how money moves in a circular pattern, from people to businesses and back, called circular flow.
