November 2nd, 2015
Class activities for Monday, November 2
Spelling: Today we practiced using the words fewer/less. Many people just use less in all cases, but less is for things than can’t be counted, and fewer is for things than can be counted. Examples:
- There is less wind today.
- There are fewer students this year.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 19-21 are available and due on Friday.
Reading: None today due to art.
Writing: Today was the last in-school revising day. This personal narrative is due Friday, November 6. Your student should be continuing to look for ways to revise their draft.
Math: Today we continued to practice looking for and extending patterns, focusing today on number patterns.
Here’s a skill we’ve been working on lately (and some students are struggling with) that your student could work on at home:
Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.
Science: We played a game to practice for Wednesday’s magnetism test.
Social Studies: We wrote notes in our minibooks about circular flow. We’ll have a MiniQuiz about that on Wednesday.
Notes:
- Fall conferences are November 10-12. Make, view, or edit your fall conference time.
- Our school is asking parents to please complete this brief parent survey.
- The Mackinac field trip page has been updated for this school year.
- Check out our class calendar to stay up-to-date.
- Visit our Links page: keep track of all the websites we use for learning, or try something new.
- View grades, assignments, and attendance at ParentVue or StudentVue.
Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 5th grade.
