Class activities for Friday, April 29

Friday, April 29th, 2016

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: None today due to our I-Search Conference presentations.

Writing: Today was our I-Search Conference!

Math: Students continued to practice division skills at MobyMax or Khan Academy today. This is our final week to work on division skills. Division skill progress has been posted to ParentVue and StudentVue, and more grades will be updated later.

Here are some skills we’ve been working on:

Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.

Science: None today due to our I-Search Conference presentations.

Social Studies: Students worked on a district government test today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Students completed a STAR Reading test today.

Writing: Students worked on editing and publishing slides for their presentation. The I-Search project is due on April 29. Students will share their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference (see schedule) on April 29. Students have been asked to wear something nice for the presentation.

Homework is to work on writing for at least 15 minutes and to finish their presentation.

Spelling: We reviewed common spelling patterns for the /j/ sound: dge, ge, gi, gy, j.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: Students worked on revising slides for their presentation. The I-Search project is due on April 29. Students will share their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference (see schedule) on April 29.

Math: Students continued to practice division skills at MobyMax or Khan Academy today. This is our final week to work on division skills.

Here are some skills we’ve been working on:

Homework is to practice MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for at least 15 minutes.

Science: Students worked on comparing an animal, plant, and a nonliving object. Students could choose to make their comparisons in a Google Doc, slide presentations, or on paper. Homework is to finish writing how those objects are similar and different.

Social Studies: Students completed a miniquiz about checks and balances and were review the class results. They weren’t very good. We learned about and reviewed checks and balances yesterday, but some students couldn’t prove that they learned about this idea. You might want to have your student improve their answers and return for a better grade. Your student can find their quiz answers in their email inbox.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles; some groups worked on questioning and visualizing as reading strategies.

Writing: Students worked on revising conferences today and revising slides for their presentation. The I-Search project is due on April 29. Students will share their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference (see schedule) on April 29.
