Class activities for Tuesday, September 13
Spelling: None today. We used this time to learn that smart practice helps a student to reach goals. I asked each student to make an origami bird. They all failed. Then I gave some directions. The ones that followed the directions did much better. Finally, I gave everyone directions, and everyone was able to create an origami bird. We learned that persevering and working helps reach a goal, as well as following directions carefully.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Friday.
Reading: Students completed a STAR Reading test today.
Writing: Students made an authority list today of topics they know about, places they know well, hobbies they participate in and skills they have. Hopefully something on this list can serve as a writing topic. The first piece of writing, a personal narrative, will be due on Friday, September 23.
Math: Students finished working on a STAR Math test today.
Science: We setup our science notebook with a table of contents and page numbers. We’ll begin our first experiment this week.
Social Studies: We started learning about the first American Indians and how the environment and natural resources shaped how they could live.
Notes:
- School Supply list
- Students will need a pair of earbuds this year. Something inexpensive will be fine. Earbuds are preferred over large headphones that are hard to store and usually more expensive to replace.
- Check out our class calendar to stay up-to-date.
- View grades, assignments, and attendance at JupiterGrades.
Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 6th grade.
