Class activities for Thursday, December 7

Spelling: Today was a spelling and skill test.

Cursive: Cursive worksheet pp. 36-38 are available and are due Friday.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles.

Writing: We talked about writing complete scenes by mixing in talking, action, and visual details. Just like a taco salad is best with all the ingredients are evenly mixed in, writing is best when the story details are balanced and mixed together. Students also worked on revising today. Our next piece of writing is a fiction story due Monday, December 18. Your student should be revising at this point by changing words or ideas. Homework is to work on writing for 15 minutes.

Math: We practiced subtracting across zeroes today. Students also worked on addition and subtraction or other math skills today at Khan Academy. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: Students finished working on a district science test today.

Social Studies: We made a flipchart today to review the three branches of government, their jobs, and the people in the branches. We will have a MiniQuiz about these ideas tomorrow.

Character Strength: We are learning about kindness this week.

Notes:

Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 5th grade.
