Class activities for Friday, April 20
Spelling: We learned about common spelling patterns for the /j/ sound: j, ge, gi, gy, dge.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.
Reading: We practiced reading aloud with speed, tone, accuracy, and volume.
Writing: Students continued work on making slides for their I-Search presentation. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference (here’s the schedule) on April 27 from 10:20-11:30. Homework is to work on writing for 15 minutes and to hopefully finish a draft of all slides.
Math: We learned about making equivalent fractions using picture models, number lines, and by multiplying or dividing. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: Students used magnets, iron filings, a compass, and magnetic objects to find hidden magnets in a box. Homework is to finish the Detecting Magnets experiment if not finished in class.
Social Studies: We learned about how economies can change with technology, changes in natural resources, or changes in competition. Those can be positive or negative changes.
Character Strength: This week’s strength is love of learning.
