Class activities for Wednesday, May 16

Wednesday, May 16th, 2018

Spelling: Today was a preview of upcoming spelling words.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: Today was a reading skills practice day using MobyMax.

Writing: Students completed revising conferences today and we edited our poem collection today. A collection of poems will be due Friday, May 18.

Math: We practiced fraction skills involving tenths and hundredths in order to get ready for decimals. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We learned about variations and adaptations that allow animals and plants to survive.

Social Studies: We read a story about how humans can interact with their environment in helpful and hurtful ways.

Character Strength: This week’s topic is a review of the other people matter mindset.

    • Field Day, June 1.
    • Dairy Queen Field Trip, June 12. Family members are invited to walk with us.
    • End of the Year Potluck and Picnic, June 13. Family members are invited to lunch and to help with games.
    • Rollhaven Field Trip, June 14. Family members are invited to go with us.

Spelling: Today was a spelling and skill test.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: We read an article about Spanish fort built in Florida and also about two English colonies in colonial America.

Writing: We editing our poem collection today. A collection of poems will be due Friday, May 18.

Math: We practiced multiplying whole numbers and fractions today using numbers and also in word problems. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: None today due to taking a survey.

Social Studies: We looked at special purpose maps and looked for patterns about the geography of the US.

Character Strength: This week’s topic is a review of the other people matter mindset.

Spelling: We reviewed common /j/ patterns today. This will be the skill on tomorrow’s spelling test.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: We read an article about how artifacts from Jamestown helped archaeologists understand past life in the historical settlement.

Writing: We talked about writing a fragment poem by writing just a few words on each line. Students also started revising their poem collection today. A collection of poems will be due Friday, May 18.

Math: We practiced multiplying whole numbers and fractions today using pictures. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We wrote notes in our minibooks about variations in traits.

Social Studies: We wrote notes about relative location, and physical and human features of geography.

Character Strength: This week’s topic is a review of the other people matter mindset.
