Class activities for Wednesday, May 23

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: None today due to a middle school band and choir concert.

Writing: Students worked on comparing information for their Find It, Decide It research project today. The Find It, Decide It project is due Friday, June 1. Homework is to continue researching.

Math: We practiced comparing decimals and fractions. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We finished working on an experiment about bees and pollination.

Social Studies: None today due to art.

Character Strength: There are no new character strengths this year.

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: We read about some famous migrations that happened in American history.

Writing: Today was a research day for the Find It, Decide It research project. Students are working with a partner to research a decision with evidence to back it up. The Find It, Decide It project is due Friday, June 1. Homework is to continue researching.

Math: We practiced writing numbers as decimals and fractions, and converting between fractions and decimals. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We watched a documentary about how pollinators and flowers work together to make much of the world’s food.

Social Studies: We learned about reasons why people in American history left their homes and moved to a new place.

Character Strength: There are no new character strengths this year.

  • The Leader in Me Walk-a-Thon is today, May 22 from 5-7 pm. Please attend and help our school support leadership activities for next year.

Reading: Today was a reading assessment day for some students, and a rewards day for others.

Writing: Today was a prewriting day for the Find It, Decide It research project, our last writing project. Students will work with a partner to research a decision with evidence to back it up. The Find It, Decide It project is due Friday, June 1. Homework is to start collecting research.

Math: We practiced writing numbers as decimals and fractions. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We worked again on an experiment that modeled how bees pick up pollen and drop it on flowers.

Social Studies: None today.

Character Strength: There are no new character strengths this year.

Reading: Today was a reading and discussion day in Literature Circles. Students also started working on an AR test.

Writing: Today was a publishing day. A collection of poems was due today.

Math: We practiced using number lines to find decimals to the hundredths place. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We worked on an experiment that modeled how bees pick up pollen and drop it on flowers.

Social Studies: None today.

Character Strength: This week’s topic is a review of the other people matter mindset.

Reading: None today due to extra science.

Writing: Students completed editing conferences today and we edited our poem collection today. A collection of poems will be due Friday, May 18.

Math: We practiced writing decimals in words, by using pictures, and on number lines. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We learned about special adaptations various animals have that allow them to survive. We also learned about fossils, how they are created in catastrophes, and how they give us information about the past.

Social Studies: We started to learn about how and why people migrate to new places.

Character Strength: This week’s topic is a review of the other people matter mindset.
