December 10th, 2018
Class activities for Monday, December 10
Spelling: Students wrote a writing log entry about their last piece of writing and how they could improve.
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Fridays.
Reading: Today was a reading skills practice time using MobyMax.
Writing: Students wrote revising comments to their partners about how they could improve their writing.
Students also worked on revising today. A narrative story (personal or fiction) is due Sunday, December 16. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Your student should have their draft and revising done by now and reading to edit for corrections.
Math: We practiced multi-digit multiplication today. Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: We planned and typed a science argument about why the animals in the project area we have been studying are not growing and thriving. We practiced making a claim, using evidence, and explaining why our ideas matter.
Social Studies: None today.
Character Strength: We wrote letters and cards to a boy with terminal cancer that wanted cards. The office is mailing them for us. We recently learned that kindness is what you DO, not just what you say.
Notes:
- Our Mexican Fiesta is Friday, December 21 from 9 am to noon. Here is our volunteer list to see what your student volunteer for or if you would like to be added to the guest list to help at the party. Will still need three people that can bring
shredded chicken for our meal. Can you help? - Is your student doing a Daily Homework Time?
Here’s a sample schedule and more ideas to get started. - Check out our class calendar to stay up-to-date.
- View grades, assignments, and attendance at JupiterGrades.
Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 6th grade.
