December 11th, 2018
Class activities for Tuesday, December 11
Spelling: We practiced writing contractions (I’ll, she’s).
Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Fridays.
Reading: None today due to a survey about school safety.
Writing: We reviewed the idea that writing should stick to one verb tense, either past or present. We also talked about using fresh language in writing, which is writing in new, surprising, or different ways, not just plain, same-old writing.
Students also worked on editing today. A narrative story (personal or fiction) is due Sunday, December 16. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Your student should have their draft and revising done by now and reading to edit for corrections.
Math: We practiced multi-digit multiplication today. Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.
Science: None today.
Social Studies: Students worked on a digital review and quiz about Spanish settlements. Students also reviewed Habit 1 of Leader in Me: Be Proactive. Students can only control themselves, not others, and they can always make a responsible choice.
Character Strength: We are learning about humility and modesty this week.
Notes:
- Our Mexican Fiesta is Friday, December 21 from 9 am to noon. Here is our volunteer list to see what your student volunteer for or if you would like to be added to the guest list to help at the party. Will still need three people that can bring
shredded chicken for our meal. Can you help? - Is your student doing a Daily Homework Time?
Here’s a sample schedule and more ideas to get started. - Check out our class calendar to stay up-to-date.

Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 6th grade.
