Class activities for Wednesday, April 24

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Fridays.

Reading: We read a historical fiction story about a family trying to survive during the Great Depression.

Writing: None today due to extra science time. We’ll have extra writing tomorrow.

The I-Search informational research project is due Friday, April 26. Here is the conference schedule. Family members are welcome to attend! Students, wear something nice!

Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Students should be editing now for spelling, capitals, and other mistakes.

Math: None today. Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We used chromatography paper to separate a food dye mixture. We found out that different colors of food dye moved to different spots on the paper, making a rainbow effect.

We also modeled chromatography using a large piece of felt with rocks, styrofoam, and packing peanuts. When we put a fan by them, different materials moved different distances. Things that were light went farther. Things that were heavier, but round and smooth rolled a medium distance. Things that were rough or heavy didn’t move far.

Social Studies: None today.

Character Strength: We are learning about appreciation of beauty and excellence this week.

Our Mission:
All students in Room 130 will do their best and get ready for 6th grade.
