November 19th, 2019
Spelling: We reviewed common patterns for the /k/ sound. This will be the skill tested in tomorrow’s spelling test. If your student hasn’t been practicing their Words to Learn list, it might be too late for tomorrow’s test, but you could start having your student plan out when they will practice their spelling words a few times a week.
Cursive: Cursive pp. 33-35 are due Friday.
Reading: We started reading an article about animal adaptations.
Writing: We practiced varying sentence beginnings so that sentences are starting with different words, not the same word over and over.
Students also started editing.
A fiction story is due Sunday, November 24. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Your student should be editing for spelling, capitals, sentence sense, paragraphs, and other mistakes at this point.
Science: We learned more about our new topic of vision and light. Our study problem is about how geckos see in the dark and how too much light could harm them.
Social Studies: Students completed a MiniQuiz today about branches of government.
Character Strength: We are learning about gratitude this week.
