Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Fridays.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: Students had revising conferences and continued to work on their collection of poems, which is Friday, May 22.

Math: Students completed a test about the following concepts:

  • Division (up to four digit numbers divided by one digit numbers)
  • Multiplication and division number stories

Homework is to finish StudyLink 7.1 about fractions.

Science: Students continued to work on their Space Fashion Show scripts and costume design. The Space Fashion Show will be Friday, May 22 at 1:30 pm in the small gym. Click here for more information.

Social Studies: None today.

A collection of poems is due Friday, May 22.

Math: We reviewed division and discuss the tomorrow’s test, which will be about the following concepts:

  • Division (up to four digit numbers divided by one digit numbers)
  • Multiplication and division number stories

Homework is to finish Journal p. 162 if not finished in class.

Spelling: None today due to discussing the class’ experience with the guest teacher on Friday.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Fridays.

Reading: Today was a reading and discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: None today due to art.

Math: We reviewed multiplication and division number stories and practiced interpreting the remainder of a division problem. Remainders can be thought about in a number of different ways:

  • Split the remainder (split a cookie into thirds)
  • Do not split the remainder (4 toys each, with two toys remaining)
  • Ignore the remainder (buy 4 notebooks, and have $2 left)
  • Round up (round 4 R 2 to 5 if you need 5 tables to fit all the people)

Homework is to finish Journal pp. 156-158.
