Spelling: None today.
Cursive: Cursive workbook pp. 63 is due Friday.
Reading: Today was reading day in Literature Circles. Some groups worked on inferring using clues as a reading strategy.
Writing: We continued to talk about literary essays (here’s a sample). Here are the main parts of a literary essay:
- Introduction with the name of the book, summary, and the theme of the book
- At least three examples from the book that support and prove the theme
- A conclusion that restates the theme
We started to work on a practice essay about the short story, High and Lifted Up, thinking about what the theme of the story could be.
Math: Students completed a STAR Math test today.
Science: We reviewed the three states of matter and what they are like:
- solids have a definite shape and volume
- liquids have a definite volume, but a changing shape
- gases have a changing shape and volume.
