Class activities for Wednesday, April 18

Wednesday, April 18th, 2018

Spelling: We learned that some sounds are spelled in more than one way.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: Today was a reading skills and AR practice day using MobyMax.

Writing: We talked about ordering facts in a 2-3-1 order on a slide. That means to save the best fact for last and to start with the second most interesting fact so that that reader is still interested. Students continued work on making slides for their I-Search presentation. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is to work on writing for 15 minutes; the goal is to make at least one slide each day.

Math: We learned about multiples today and worked on this skill at Khan Academy. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: None today.

Social Studies: We learned about specialization and division of labor today, which is how assembly lines can create so many products.

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: We read a tall tale about pioneers moving from Iowa to Oregon.

Writing: Students worked on making slides for their I-Search presentation. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is to work on writing for 15 minutes; the goal is to make at least one slide each day.

Math: We learned about factors and factor pairs today and worked on this skill at Khan Academy. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: Students completed a MiniQuiz about conductors and insulators today.

Social Studies: We finished learning about incentives today. We’ll have a MiniQuiz about this soon.

Reading: We read a tall tale today about the American west.

Writing: Students created Google Slide presentations and started making slides for their I-Search presentation. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is to work on writing for 15 minutes.

Math: We worked on standard division with remainders again today at Khan Academy. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We completed a district science experiment about electrical conductors and insulators, then reviewed what we learned last week about magnetic metals.

Social Studies: Students completed a MiniQuiz about supply, demand, and price, and then we learned about positive and negative incentives.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: Today was a reading skills practice day using MobyMax.

Writing: We used Bubbl.us to organize our research into an organized map. Next week, students will create slides for their I-Search topic. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is continue to collect information this week.

Math: We worked on standard division with remainders again today at MobyMax Math. Two lesson topics have been graded and can be checked at Jupiter Ed. Some students aren’t finished and might need to continue at home. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We completed a district science experiment about electrical conductors and insulators.

Social Studies: None today.

Spelling: Students continued working on Words to Learn lists from words missed on the last spelling test. This is your student’s customized spelling list to study for the next test.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: We learned how to use Google Keep to collect information from websites. Students also worked on collecting more research for their I-Search topic. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is continue to collect information this week.

Math: We worked on standard division with remainders again today at MobyMax Math. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Social Studies: We read an article about how video game makers compete for customers and how that affects price. We’ll have a MiniQuiz this week about supply, demand, competition, and price.
