Class activities for Wednesday, April 11

Spelling: Students made Words to Learn lists from words missed on the last spelling test. This is your student’s customized spelling list to study for the next test.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles.

Writing: We talked about looking for trustworthy websites, such as not trusting a website about a tree octopus. We talked about double-checking facts at another site and also looking at the web address as a clue if the site is well-known or trustworthy. Students also worked on collecting more research for their I-Search topic. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is continue to collect information this week.

Math: We worked on standard division with remainders today at MobyMax Math. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: Today was a health and nutrition lesson.

Social Studies: None today due art.

Spelling: We started making Words to Learn lists from words missed on the last spelling test.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: We finished reading a realistic fiction story about how a brother showed that he cared for his sister by attending her basketball game. We also read about some reading strategies, such as visualizing and thinking about problem and solution.

Writing: Students worked on collecting research for their I-Search topic. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is continue to collect information this week.

Math: We worked on standard division with remainders today. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We learned that magnets are attracted to only certain metals: iron, steel, cobalt, nickel, and gadolinium. Homework is to finish the Sticky Metals experiment started in class. We will also be having a MiniQuiz about electrical conductors and insulators this week.

Social Studies: None today due extra science time. We’ll have an extra social studies time this week to make up for it.

Reading: We started reading a realistic fiction story about how a brother shows that he cares for his sister.

Writing: Students worked on narrowing their topic for the I-Search informational research project. We also went to the library to look for books and to start internet research. Students will be sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is continue to collect information this week.

Science: We started a topic on magnets by testing which materials are attracted to a magnet. Homework is to finish the Magnetic Observations experiment started in class.

Students will be researching a topic and sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is for students to think of interesting information topics they would like to learn about.

Science: None today. We used this time to finish our spring showcase in the class.

Social Studies: None today due to the Habit Hop.

Reading: We read more poems today about overcoming challenges.

Writing: We talked about our next writing project, the I-Search informational research project. Students will be researching a topic and sharing their research as a digital presentation during our I-Search Conference on April 27. Homework is for students to think of interesting information topics they would like to learn about.

Math: We practiced standard division again today. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: None today. We used this time to create a new spring showcase in the class.

Social Studies: None today due to working on our showcase.
