Class activities for Tuesday, March 27

Tuesday, March 27th, 2018

Spelling: Today was a spelling and skill test.

Cursive: No cursive assignment this week.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: Students worked on editing conferences today. The novel project is due Wednesday, March 28. Homework is work on writing for at least 15 minutes. Tonight is the last night to add words toward the word count grade.

Math: We practiced standard division again today. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: None today.

Social Studies: We learned about how price is affected by supply, demand, competition, and substitute goods.

Character Strength: This week’s strength is humor.

Reading: Today was a reading day in Literature Circles; some groups worked on visualizing as a reading strategy.

Writing: Students worked on editing today. The novel project is due Wednesday, March 28. Homework is work on writing for at least 15 minutes.

Math: We practiced standard division again today. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We learned about electrical safety again today.

Social Studies: None today.

Spelling: We reviewed digraphs today. This will be the skill tested on Monday’s spelling test.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: Today we read more poetry about working hard to achieve goals.

Writing: We talked about writing an interesting ending of the story using talking, action, or visual details.

Students also worked on revising their novel and completed revising conferences.

Math: None today due to Eagle Time. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Spelling: We reviewed rules for adding suffixes to words.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: Today we started reading some poetry about working hard to achieve goals.

Writing: We talked about writing an interesting lead at the beginning of the story to hook the reader. Starting with talking, action, or visual details are interesting ways to start a story.

Students also worked on revising their novel.

The novel project is due Wednesday, March 28. Homework is work on writing for at least 15 minutes.

Math: Students worked on STAR Math tests today. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We wrote notes about conductors and insulators today.

Social Studies: We wrote notes about circular flow today. We’ll have a MiniQuiz about that soon.

Character Strength: This week’s strength is forgiveness.

Spelling: None today.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due Friday.

Reading: Today was Eagle Time while several students completed reading tests.

Writing: Students worked on drafting their novel. Today was the final drafting today. Your student should be at 100% of their count by tonight. The class average is 90%, which is a big improvement! Yet, 14 students are still at risk for not finishing their word count. You can see updated word counts at Jupiter Ed.

The novel project is due Wednesday, March 28. Homework is work on writing for at least 15 minutes.

Math: We practiced standard division without remainders today using Khan Academy. Homework is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We reviewed the Conductors and Insulators experiment from yesterday and learned that all metals are conductors. Most nonmetals are insulators. But salt water and graphite are two surprise conductors that are not metal.

Social Studies: None today due to Eagle Time.
