Writing: Students are continuing to work with partners on their Find It, Decide It research project. This piece is due Friday, May 30.

Math: We started to practice factors and multiples today. We used Khan Academy to practice these skills:

Homework is to work on MobyMax Math or Khan Academy for 15 minutes or more, and to level up on the skills listed above if not done in class.

Social Studies: We learned “push” and “pull” factors that caused people to immigrate from other countries to Michigan.

Reading: Today was a discussion day in Literature Circles.

Writing: None today; we’ll have extra time tomorrow to work on this project. Students are continuing to work with partners on their Find It, Decide It research project. This piece is due Friday, May 30.

Math: We continued practicing fractions today. We used Khan Academy to practice these skills:

Science: Students dissected owl pellets today to see what was a part of the owl’s food chain. Most students found bones of mice or voles.

Social Studies: We leaned that there are “push” and “pull” factors that lead to people moving to new places. People are usually pushed out by negative factors, and pulled by positive things. We learned that people moved in the US during settlement, to escape slavery, to find factory jobs, and during resettlement of Indians.

Social Studies: We read, A River Ran Wild, about how humans polluted and then restored the Nashua River in Massachusetts. Students wrote notes about human actions and consequences. Homework is to finish the notes if not completed in class.
