Class activities for Friday, February 28

Friday, February 28th, 2020

Spelling: None today. We’ll be working on our leadership notebooks during spelling this week.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: We read an article about what a market economy is like.

Writing: Students worked on publishing their persuasive letter to the editor today.

A persuasive letter is due Sunday, March 1. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes.

Here are some resources to help with this project:

Math: None today due to art. Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We read about how different animals use vibrations to send sound waves through air, water, or the ground in order to communicate.

Social Studies: We read and wrote notes about market economies.

Character Strength: This week was about zest and enthusiasm.

Spelling: None today. We’ll be working on our leadership notebooks during spelling this again week.

Cursive: Ten cursive sentences, seven or more words each, are due on Fridays.

Reading: We read a narrative nonfiction story about terrible child labor was in the 1900s.

Writing: Students worked on drafting their persuasive letter to the editor again today.

A persuasive letter is due Sunday, March 1. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Students should be done with prewriting by now and should have three paragraphs drafted by tonight.

Math: Students worked on dividing using place value to break apart large numbers. Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: We read more about particles and students used a simulation to observe what happens to air particles when a sound is made. Homework is to finish p. 27 started in class.

Social Studies: We started to read an article about market economies and to write notes about it.

Character Strength: We are learning about zest and enthusiasm this week.

Reading: We read about how sound travels through the particles of different materials.

Writing: Students worked on drafting their persuasive letter to the editor today.

A persuasive letter is due Sunday, March 1. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Students should be done with prewriting and drafting at this point.

Math: Students worked on dividing multiples of 10, 100, and 1000 today. Homework on weekdays is to practice math for 15 minutes using MobyMax or Khan Academy.

Science: Students tested different materials to see if sound travels through them. They learned that sound travels through air, water, and solid objects.

Social Studies: Today was a leader lesson about making a plan to reach a goal.

Reading: None today due to our field trip to Whiting Auditorium to watch a performance about Rosa Parks.

Writing: Students worked on prewriting their persuasive letter to the editor project again today and we had prewriting conferences.

A persuasive letter is due Sunday, March 1. Homework on weekdays is to work on writing for 15 minutes. Students should be prewriting about their idea to improve our school and should be done with prewriting tonight.
