Math: Students learned how to multiply and divide decimal numbers, and we reviewed perimeter and area. Homework is to complete a perimeter and area puzzle page.

Science: Finished for the year.

Social Studies: Students completed a Michigan statehood review page and turned in their minibooks for a grade.

Math: Students played fraction war to compare fractions. We also learned that adding the same fraction over and over is the same as multiplying the fraction by a whole number. For example, 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 1/2 * 3 = 3/2. Homework is to change five improper fractions into mixed numbers, by dividing.

Science: We finished learning about states of matter and the water cycle. Homework is to finish Investigation Review pp. 84-85 if not done in class.

Writing: Today was the final work day for our last portfolio piece of the year, the Find It, Decide It comparative information piece (more information here). This piece was due into portfolios today.

Math: Students used fraction cards to see if various fractions were less than, equal to or larger than one-half. Homework is to finish Journal pp. 213-214 if not done in class.

Science: None today due to Field Day.

Reading: None today due to our Border’s Poetry Slam. Thanks to all the family members that came to listen to the poetry and chaperone students! We had a great turn-out and everyone did a great job!

Writing: The final portfolio piece of the year, the Find It, Decide It comparative information piece (more information here), is due Friday, June 5. Students continued to work in the lab on their piece today. We will have our final work day tomorrow.

Math: We reviewed improper fractions and mixed numbers. We also learned how to add and subtract fractions. Homework is to finish a fraction addition and subtraction practice page.
